Break of structure (BOS)

A break of structure (BOS) is a close beyond the last swing high in an uptrend, or swing low in a downtrend: the trend making a new leg.

How the break of structure (bos) works

Smart-money concepts (SMC) read trends through swing points. In an uptrend each BOS above a prior high confirms buyers remain in control; in a downtrend each BOS below a prior low confirms sellers do.

A BOS is a continuation signal. The level that would flip the structure (the CHoCH level) shows where the trend would be in doubt.

Confirmation
A candle close beyond the swing high or low.
Target
No fixed target: the next liquidity area or weak high / low.
Fails if
A close beyond the CHoCH level, which would change the structure.
